Considered the Picasso of golf course design, Pepe put together 3 nine hole courses in Cocotal Country Club, making the trees the emblematic characteristic of the course. Named after the hundreds of coconut trees spread around the course, Cocotal also has numerous lakes which are a bird watchers haven.
A premier 27-hole championship course, Hibiscus, Bougainvillea, and Benjamina, located directly across from the Paradisus Palma Real. Designed by six-time Spanish champion José “Pepe” Gancedo, often called the “Picasso” of golf course design, it is built on the grounds of a former coconut plantation.
A “Parkland” style course characterized by wide, generous fairways, strategically placed bunkers, and hundreds of swaying coconut palms. Numerous lakes come into play, particularly on the “Lakes” routes, which also double as a haven for local birdlife. Being near Bávaro Beach, the course is subject to “unrelenting” Caribbean breezes that provide a natural challenge.
